One In Ten

While traveling to Jerusalem, Jesus passed between Samaria and Galilee. As he entered a village, ten men with leprosy met him. Luke 17:11-12 CSB
Jesus has always been intentional about putting Himself in our proximity, especially in times of pain.
The LORD is near the brokenhearted; he saves those crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18 CSB
There is no hurt, history, or struggle that Jesus can’t heal and restore.
When our bond is based on mutual pain, there is sometimes pressure not to heal.
They stood at a distance and raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” Luke 17:13 CSB
Entitlement, whatever its source, has the tendency to rob us of the humility necessary to truly trust Jesus.
When he saw them, he told them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” Luke 17:14 CSB
Faith almost always requires an act of obedience.
It is senseless to say we’re desperate for healing while simultaneously refusing the instructions of the healer.
And while they were going, they were cleansed. Luke 17:14 CSB
Obedience is always an opportunity to connect ourselves to the power and provision of God.
But one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned and, with a loud voice, gave glory to God. He fell facedown at his feet, thanking him. And he was a Samaritan. Luke 17:15-16 CSB
Gratitude toward God goes beyond simply being thankful for a desired outcome; it is a genuine response of appreciation to our Sovereign Savior King.
Then Jesus said, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Didn’t any return to give glory to God except this foreigner? ” And he told him, “Get up and go on your way. Your faith has saved you.” Luke 17:17-19 CSB
Jesus came for the the lost, the least, the last, and the left out, which includes all of us.
Your healing, no matter how impactful, pales in comparison to the importance of recognizing the Healer.
