Possess The Land
We’re so glad you are here! Thanks for checking out Sunday's message!
-- SUNDAY'S NOTES --
We are called to conquer, not coexist, with anything that opposes God's will and His Kingdom.
Any foe you don’t fight and finish may one day finish you.
Joshua was now old, advanced in age, and the LORD said to him, “You have become old, advanced in age, but a great deal of the land remains to be possessed.” Joshua 13:1 CSB
Sunday’s victories mean little if they don’t lead to possessing new spiritual territory in our everyday lives.
I myself will drive them out before the People of Israel. All you have to do is allot this land to Israel as an inheritance, as I have instructed you. Joshua 13:6 MSG
A delegation from the tribe of Judah, led by Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, came to Joshua at Gilgal. Caleb said to Joshua, “Remember what the LORD said to Moses, the man of God, about you and me when we were at Kadesh-barnea. Joshua 14:6 NLT
What do you do, what kind of faith do you have, when you are at a personal Kadesh-Barnea?
None of the people who have seen my glory and the signs that I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and yet have tested me these ten times and have not obeyed my voice, shall see the land that I swore to give to their ancestors; none of those who despised me shall see it. But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit and has followed me wholeheartedly, I will bring into the land into which he went, and his descendants shall possess it. Numbers 14:24 NRSV
The closer you are to the Promise Keeper, the greater your faith to believe and possess His promises.
I was forty years old when Moses, the servant of the LORD, sent me from Kadesh-barnea to explore the land of Canaan. I returned and gave an honest report, but my brothers who went with me frightened the people from entering the Promised Land. For my part, I wholeheartedly followed the LORD my God. So that day Moses solemnly promised me, ‘The land of Canaan on which you were just walking will be your grant of land and that of your descendants forever, because you wholeheartedly followed the LORD my God.’ Joshua 14:7-9 NLT
Wholehearted, faith-filled following is the only way to walk into and posses the Promise Land God has for you.
Now, as you can see, the LORD has kept me alive and well as he promised for all these forty-five years since Moses made this promise, even while Israel wandered in the wilderness. Today I am eighty-five years old. I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then. Joshua 14:10-11 NLT
Faithfully follow and work while you wait, and you’ll discover the real reward was in following Jesus all along.
Now give me this hill country that the LORD promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the LORD helping me, I will drive them out just as he said.” Joshua 14:12 NIV
Faith doesn't minimize but rather right-sizes the enemy in comparison to God and the power of His promise.
So Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave Hebron to him as his portion of land. Hebron still belongs to the descendants of Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite because he wholeheartedly followed the LORD, the God of Israel. (Previously Hebron had been called Kiriath-arba. It had been named after Arba, a great hero of the descendants of Anak.) And the land had rest from war. Joshua 14:13-15 NLT
Caleb drove out from there the three sons of Anak: Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai. Joshua 15:14 CSB
There is no giant capable of keeping you from experiencing God’s goodness and favor in your life.
