SERMON NOTES
In this series, we’ll unpack the incredible journey from captivity to freedom and promise.

For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:56-57 NLT

With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes. Psalm 108:13 ESV

Victory is a promised gift God offers to everyone that will accept and receive.

Intentionally Follow

As soon as you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God being carried by the Levitical priests, then you shall set out from your place and follow it. Joshua 3:3 ESV

Fighting without following is a sure way to find yourself perpetually wandering without winning.

When the whole nation was finally across, GOD spoke to Joshua: "Select twelve men from the people, a man from each tribe, and tell them, 'From right here, the middle of the Jordan where the feet of the priests are standing firm, take twelve stones. Carry them across with you and set them down in the place where you camp tonight.” Joshua 4:1-3 MSG

The people crossed the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month. Then they camped at Gilgal, just east of Jericho. It was there at Gilgal that Joshua piled up the twelve stones taken from the Jordan River. Joshua 4:19-20 NLT

And then he told the People of Israel, "In the days to come, when your children ask their fathers, 'What are these stones doing here?' tell your children this: 'Israel crossed over this Jordan on dry ground.’ "Yes, GOD, your God, dried up the Jordan's waters for you until you had crossed, just as GOD, your God, did at the Red Sea, which had dried up before us until we had crossed. This was so that everybody on earth would recognize how strong GOD's rescuing hand is and so that you would hold GOD in solemn reverence always.” Joshua 4:21-24 MSG

Remember to Remember

Choosing to remember the victories rather than the defeats is the Godly way to learn to win!

When all the Amorite kings west of the Jordan and all the Canaanite kings who lived along the Mediterranean coast heard how the LORD had dried up the Jordan River so the people of Israel could cross, they lost heart and were paralyzed with fear because of them. Joshua 5:1 NLT

Often it’s not the obstacle but what’s waiting on the other side that keeps us from moving forward.

Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the shame of your slavery in Egypt.” So that place has been called Gilgal to this day. While the Israelites were camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, they celebrated Passover on the evening of the fourteenth day of the first month. Joshua 5:9-10 NLT

Leave Egypt in Egypt.

Shame is the enemy’s way of telling you that you can never win, redemption is God’s way of showing you that you already have!

The very next day they began to eat unleavened bread and roasted grain harvested from the land. No manna appeared on the day they first ate from the crops of the land, and it was never seen again. So from that time on the Israelites ate from the crops of Canaan. Joshua 5:11-12 NLT

Live in the Land of Promise

Don’t let the miracle of Mercy cause you to miss on the greatness of Grace.

While Joshua was there near Jericho: He looked up and saw right in front of him a man standing, holding his drawn sword. Joshua stepped up to him and said, "Whose side are you on—ours or our enemies’?" He said, "Neither. I'm commander of GOD's army. I've just arrived." Joshua fell, face to the ground, and worshiped. He asked, "What orders does my Master have for his servant?” Joshua 5:13-14 MSG

Value the presence of God!

A preference for His presence should preempt any choice that doesn’t line up with His will.!

In the presence of God we find power for winning and a reservoir of joy no enemy can overcome
