This is my command: Love each other. John 15:17 NLT
Jesus knows his way around sacrificial friendship, as evidenced on the cross.
If anyone boasts, "I love God," and goes right on hating his brother or sister, thinking nothing of it, he is a liar. If he won't love the person he can see, how can he love the God he can't see? The command we have from Christ is blunt: Loving God includes loving people. You've got to love both. 1 John 4:20-21 MSG

Pettiness is a manifestation of self-centeredness and is poison to friendship.
Pettiness corrodes even the strongest bonds like rust eating away at the structure of a bridge until one day the weight of everyday life will cause it to fail.
We will never be good together until we learn to be alone with God.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. John 15:4 ESV
