Deciding with Dad

Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations, that’s what I had in mind for you.. Jeremiah 1:5 MSG

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. James 1:5 NLT

The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. James 3:17 ESV

We make decisions every day that move us closer to, or farther from God’s will.

Prioritize God’s Purpose

If you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15 NLT

Destiny is dependent on our recognizing and prioritizing God’s big picture purposes and plans.

But Daniel was determined not to defile himself by eating the food and wine given to them by the king. Daniel 1:8 NLT

Like Daniel, our journey to destiny starts with a determination to honor God’s priorities.

2) Patience

Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:30-31 ESV

Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end, it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. Habakkuk 2:2-3 ESV

Waiting gives us time and opportunity to straighten, strengthen, and learn surrender.

Hastily made decisions are the easiest to regret.

Waiting isn’t wasted time, it’s priceless time trusting in God and the journey He has for me.

3) Perseverance / Redemption

Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. Psalm 51:12 NLT

Our destiny is dependent on God’s unwavering ability and willingness to redeem and restore.

4) Persistence / Faithfulness

Don’t bail on the destination even if their are challenges along the way.

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Hebrews 10:23 NLT

5) Passion

I remind you to fan into flame the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. 2 Timothy 1:6 NLT

Passionately persist in pursuing with patience the purposes and plans God has for you.
