A Christ Like Mindset

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:2 ESV

A breakthrough in mindset precedes, knowing and living the will of God.

The most challenging thing about a mindset shift is that it requires your mindset to shift!

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9 ESV

Which leaves me praying, “God, please tell me what to think / believe and do!”

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9 ESV

Here’s the deal: As children of God are meant to have a Christ-like / Christ-centered mindset!

It takes a Christ-centered mindset to see and live out God‘s priorities and perspective.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV

Transformation and freedom are on the way for anyone who will choose a Christ-centered mindset!

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 NLT

Until you let God transform your thinking, you will think you know His will even when you don’t.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death. Proverbs 14:12 ESV

My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. John 7:17 NKJV

A Christ-centered mindset opens the door for God’s revelation and truth.

Selfless Christ-centered Mindset vs. Me-centric Self-centered Mindset

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Philippians 2:3 ESV

Self-centered thinking is one of the enemies most effective traps!

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:5-8 ESV -

Walking through life with a self-centered mindset is a sure way to miss finding and living God’s best.

Trust in God vs Trust Myself Mindset

Trust me when I tell your trusting will be tested!

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. Proverbs 3:5-7 NLT

A Trust-in-God Mindset leads to patience and contentment, persistence and wisdom.

Surrendered Mindset vs Rebellious Mindset

A Self-centered Trust yourself mindset left unchecked will lead to a Rebellious Mindset!

Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it, for their evil has come up before me.” But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. He went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. So he paid the fare and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish, away from the presence of the LORD. Jonah 1:1-3 ESV

Running from God’s presence is a sure sign you have the wrong perspective.

But the LORD hurled a great wind upon the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship threatened to break up. Jonah 1:4 ESV

Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the belly of the fish, saying, “I called out to the LORD, out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice. Jonah 2:1-2 ESV

If you are presently doing whale time, call out to the Lord. (And this time listen.)

Then the LORD spoke to Jonah a second time: “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh, and deliver the message I have given you.” This time Jonah obeyed the LORD’s command and went to Nineveh. Jonah 3:1-3 NLT

The bible doesn’t say follow your heart; it says to guard your heart and surrender it to God.
