SERMON NOTES
It’s good and Godly to be grateful and moreover to show gratitude!

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Psalm 103:1 ESV

Unexpressed gratitude is experienced as ingratitude.

Be grateful and live like you are!

Gratitude and ingratitude are relationally determinative. Andy Stanley

Most Christians stand at a distance from a God who came to be near.

Gratitude aggressively diffuses division and creates closeness.

They knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. Romans 1:21-22 NLT

They traded the glory of God, who holds the whole world in his hands, for cheap figurines you can buy at any roadside stand. Romans 1:23 MSG

When Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God. Daniel 6:10 NLT

Be grateful and live like you are

Let all that I am praise the LORD; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s! Psalm 103:1-5 NLT

The LORD is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He does not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins; nor deal harshly with us, as we deserve. For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust. Psalm 103:8-14 NLT

Let all that I am praise the LORD. Psalm 103:22 NLT

The greatest expression of gratefulness to God who’s given so much is to give our hearts completely to Him.
