Covenant Exchange

Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. 1 Samuel 18:3

Covenants differ from contracts in that they are motivated by love for another over self.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt. 1 Samuel 18:4

By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. 2 Peter 1:3

The value of what God gives to each of us in Covenant is priceless, powerful and generational.

May you treat me with the faithful love of the LORD as long as I live. But if I die, treat my family with this faithful love, even when the LORD destroys all your enemies from the face of the earth.
1 Samuel 20:14-15

One day David asked, “Is anyone in Saul’s family still alive—anyone to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” 2 Samuel 9:1

David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan, and I will restore to you all the land of Saul your father, and you shall eat at my table always.”
2 Samuel 9:7

The Kingly kindness we are shown in Covenant with Jesus settles it now and forever!
