Death to Death

Apr 10, 2022

Taking the twelve disciples aside, Jesus once more began to describe everything that was about to happen to him. “Listen,” he said, “we’re going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence him to die and hand him over to the Romans. They will mock him, spit on him, flog him with a whip, and kill him, but after three days he will rise again.” Mark 10:33-34 NLT

Many spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut from the fields. And those who went before and those who followed were shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!” Mark 11:8-10 ESV

Jesus has a plan that is beyond what you know our understand.

But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed. All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the sins of us all. Isaiah 53:5-6 NLT

Satan thought he could put life to death.

Jesus is literally walking His way to His own funeral and is on His way to put death to death.

Satan saw Jesus as the sacrifice but missed on Him as the Savior.

Jesus and the life He brings with His Word, Wisdom, and Will is unquantifiable!

A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of. John 10:10 MSG

Not only did Jesus cover sins penalty, but in defeating death, He overcame sins power.

But now that you've found you don't have to listen to sin tell you what to do, and have discovered the delight of listening to God telling you, what a surprise! A whole, healed, put-together life right now, with more and more of life on the way! Work hard for sin your whole life and your wage is death. But God's gift is real life, eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master. Romans 6:22-23 MSG

Certain guest we expect to see at these occasions.

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Ps 34:18 ESV

But that’s not the full guest list, not for the child of God! -

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matt 5:4 ESV

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13 ESV

The unexpected gifts God gives on our darkest days came at a great cost and come with love and compassion.
