The Family of God

We’re so glad you are here! Thanks for checking out Sunday's message!

-- SUNDAY'S NOTES --

God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27 NLT

He was in the world, and the world was created through him, and yet the world did not recognize him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, he gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in his name, who were born, not of natural descent, or of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of God. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:10-12 NLT

From the beginning family has been about God centered relationships not DNA.

Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews, who were in prison with me. They are highly respected among the apostles and became followers of Christ before I did. Romans 16:7 NLT

He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. Ephesians 4:16 NLT

Our most important effort is found in the everyday ordinary things we do for God and others.

Faithful effort in the ordinary duties of a son or daughter are the best way to honor the Father.

Overlooking the significance of everyday surrender has robbed the church from seeing the miraculous.

One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, “There’s a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish.” John 6:8-9 CSB

But what are they for so many? John 6:9 CSB

What we have is always insufficient until it’s in the hands of Jesus.

Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people. Afterward he did the same with the fish. And they all ate as much as they wanted. John 6:11 NLT

Our impact is amplified when we seize the everyday opportunities to love well with Jesus.

When the people had eaten their fill, he said to his disciples, “Gather the leftovers so nothing is wasted.” They went to work and filled twelve large baskets with leftovers from the five barley loaves. John 6:12-13 MSG

Our beleaguered age stands in need, not so much of ten talent men, but God conquered commoners.

Here is another story Jesus told: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field. But at night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away. Matthew 13:24-25 NLT

I don’t want to sleep on my assignment or miss the opportunity to honor God with the life He’s given me to live.

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life, your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life, and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Romans 12:1-2 MSG
