Amazing
For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. John 1:16-17 ESV
Run John run the law demands but gives me neither feet nor hand better news the gospel brings, it bids fly and gives me wings. John Bunyan
Divine Grace is distinctively Christian and only found in a relationship with Jesus!
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16 ESV
Grace is the unmerited favor and supernatural ability of God displayed in the life of the person who chooses to follow him.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ by grace you have been saved and raised us up with him and seated with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. (v.9 often taken out of context) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2: 4-10 ESV
Grace shouldn’t lead to passivity but passion.
Faith connects us to the Grace that empowers God’s will!
Grace isn’t a license for lazy, but the rather power and passion for God’s work and will.
Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace. Romans 6:12-14 NLT
Grace provides freedom from sin not freedom to sin.
Grace covers sins penalty and breaks sins power, it isn’t permission to sin, but it is amazing provision for sin!
Ponder the achievement of God. God doesn’t condone our sin, nor does he compromise his standard. He doesn’t ignore our rebellion, nor does he relax his demands. Rather than dismiss our sin, he assumes our sin, and incredibly sentences himself. God is still holy. Sin is still sin. And we are redeemed. – Max Lucado, In the Grip of Grace
Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. 1 Corinthians 15:8-10 ESV
